Subject Matter - Young Carers
The subject of young carers is one of the main themes in HK. I don't often write about serious subjects in which I have no experience, or at least I try not to. Although I have never been in the exact position Kyla is in, I have played somewhat of a carer role to my younger brothers before at times when my mother needed help. Obviously it would be a different matter entirely to look after them 24/7 but I have had at least a taster - enough to be able to empathise with those that do, and to be able to write a book or books on it.
When the books are published and released I intend to donate a percentage to various charities and support groups helping those who need it. As well as raising awareness I want to make a difference in some people's lives.
Some of my future projects include other subject matters similar in context, including the illness ME/CFS that I myself suffer presently. When the time rolls around I want to take the same action.
